We enjoy food and the preparation of it. We’ve seen chefs prepare some incredible dishes in person, but what if the concept is taken to the next level?
This is where the cooking anime comes in. Cooking is depicted in the most fascinating way in anime series, and you can’t help but admire the creators.
So, are you looking for anime shows about cooking or food? So, let us serve you with our fantastic list!
Best Cooking Anime!
13. Gourmet Girl Graffiti
Ryou Machiko moved out on her own after her grandmother died. She perfectly recreates her grandmother’s recipes, but something is missing.
When she meets a girl named Kirin, she discovers that having company makes the meal taste better. They enjoy a variety of delectable foods together.
Gourmet Girl Graffiti is, in my opinion, a fantastic anime. There is no suspense, no plot twists and turns, but you enjoy every minute of it.
It’s a slice-of-life cooking anime with a cute main character. So, if you’re looking for something new to watch, this is a must-see.
12. Bonjour Sweet Love Patisserie
Sayuri Haruna aspires to be a good pastry chef and enrols at Fleurir Confectionary Academy in Tokyo’s Aoyama district.
There, she is surrounded by charming boys with distinct personalities, and as she gets closer to them, she moves one step closer to her dream.
It has the feel of a reverse harem anime, but it also has the feel of a cooking anime. It’s not deep or moving, but it’s entertaining if you want to laugh.
The only drawback is that it is so short that you can watch the entire series in a single day. Finally, it is one of the best cooking anime shows available.
11. Cooking Papa
Araiwa Kazumi is an inspiring employee who perfectly balances his work life and responsibilities. He is also an excellent chef, which his coworkers are unaware of.
She couldn’t make enough time for the family because of her wife’s job as a journalist, but she remains a cheerful mother. Nonetheless, the family remains united and leads a peaceful life by eating delicious meals.
Cooking Papa is an anime with a good message and a slice-of-life plot. It depicts how a family struggles when both parents work, but it also offers a solution.
It could be a great source of inspiration for people dealing with family issues. Furthermore, it focuses on cooking the majority of the time, making it one of the best cooking animes available.
10. Mister Ajikko
Genjirou Murata is a well-known Japanese food critic, and when he discovers a cooking prodigy named Youichi Ajiyoshi, he decides to make him the company’s heir.
However, before that, Ajiyoshi must establish himself in the world of professionals, where cooking is a source of pride and honour. Can he rise to the top and establish himself as Japan’s best chef?
To be honest, Mister Ajikko is an underrated anime in my opinion. It deserves more credit for the creators’ efforts in creating this anime.
Despite a minor hiccup with subtitles in the third episode, you’ll be around the 20th episode before you know it. In other words, it is among the best cooking anime available.
9. Drifting Dragons
Fairy tales refer to dragons as “Rulers of the Sky.” They pose a threat to far too many people, but they can also provide valuable medicine, oil, and tasty food.
The plot follows a crew known as “Quin Zaza” as they bravely hunt dragons along the way. There are fights, comedy, and, most importantly, gourmet cooking.
Every now and then, an anime series will be misunderstood by the audience and receive a low rating. The same is true for this anime.
It has fantastic world-building, and the idea of hunting mythical beasts is certainly intriguing. Although it focuses on adventure rather than cooking, it is still a fantastic anime to watch.
Toriko is a foodie to the point where he can easily catch any delicious food. The head chef of the Hotel Gourmet hires him to catch a Galara Crocodile because of his skills in finding food.
He accepts the job and travels to the Baron Islands in search of the Galara Crocodile. But he discovers more than he expected, and will he get his food or become Crocodile’s dinner?
This is not an anime to watch for intense scenes or epic situations. However, if you’re bored or down, it will definitely lift your spirits.
Although the plot does not involve much cooking, it is mentioned in every episode. If you’re looking for a food-related/cooking anime, this could be a one-of-a-kind watch.
7. Cooking Master Boy
Mao’s mother was a well-known culinary genius. He has now decided to follow in her footsteps and travel across China.
Throughout his journey, he meets a variety of talents and personalities with unrivalled culinary skills. Mao must now put all of the skills he learned from his mother to use in order to realise his dream.
This anime transports you to a better world by showcasing your love of cooking. The pacing is good, and the plot keeps you interested until the end.
Despite the fact that it aired in 1997, the animation was excellent, and if you enjoy cooking anime, you should not miss this one.
Food shopping at the supermarket is simple because you can get everything, including bento lunch boxes. However, it may become dangerous if sales become low and people compete for it.
You Satou gets into these fights to buy Bento lunchboxes, and his upperclassmen invite him to join their Half-Priced Food Lovers Club after seeing his lack of fighting skills.
Simply put, this anime is about discounted Bento and how people struggle to obtain it. Although these minor battles take up the majority of the story, the humour more than compensates.
It’s straightforward entertainment that doesn’t get too serious throughout the episodes. So, if you’re looking for a funny and refreshing cooking anime, give this one a shot.
5. Today’s Menu for Emiya Family
Following the Great War, the people of Fuyuki city returned to their normal lives. Shirou began working as a cook for the Emiya family. He goes to the market every day to find the best ingredients.
Shirou strives to provide the best dishes with delicacies such as New Year soba, cheesy bamboo shoot gratin, and many more because the Emiya family always invites guests.
If you watch the Fate series first, this anime will feel more complete. Because it is based on the parent fate story. Even if you haven’t seen the original anime, you can still enjoy it.
Both are unrelated, and because the characters aren’t introduced beforehand, you won’t miss anything. As a result, it is one of the best cooking animes available.
4. Sweetness & Lightning
Kouhei Inuzuka has been raising his daughter Tsumugi alone since the death of his wife. He’s not very good at cooking and doesn’t eat much.
When one of his students, Kotori Iida, becomes closer to his family, the three of them begin to cook various delectable dishes together in the kitchen. Could this new opportunity improve their lives?
Sweetness and Lightning is one of the most beautiful anime series available. It has realistic and cute characters, and the father-daughter relationship makes the entire show emotional.
Rather than showing the audience delicious foods, it demonstrates how food can improve people’s lives. So, if you enjoy cooking anime series, we think you’ll enjoy this one.
3. Meng Qi Shi Shen
Ye Jiayao’s ambition is to open the best restaurant in the world. She does, however, travel back in time in the body of Ye Jinxuan.
She finally opens a restaurant in Huai Song after overcoming numerous challenges. However, she is constantly on the lookout for villains who want to bring it down. Will she be able to realise her dream in this manner?
Isn’t it unusual to combine food and historical romance? Meng Qi Shi Shen effortlessly tells the story and never fails to surprise you with delicious episodes.
If you enjoy Chinese historical anime with a cooking theme, you’ll enjoy this one. So, why not check it out for yourself?
2. Yakitate!! Japan
Azuma Kazuma is a moron, but he has a dream: to create a bread that can compete with anything and earns the title “Japanese people’s bread.”
Can he put everything he’s got into making the bread, with hands fit for dought ferment, hefty bread-making skills, and ultimate willpower?
This show is ridiculous, but you’ll enjoy it. Unless you’re a bread baking expert, you won’t find this anime absurd.
Although the concept isn’t particularly original, the humour, characters, and baking scenes are entertaining.
1. Food Wars!
Yukihira Soma enjoys cooking and attempts to beat his father in a cooking competition but always loses. His father had to leave the country unexpectedly one day, forcing them to close their diner.
Soma enrols in Tohtsuki Academy, Japan’s most prestigious cooking school. This school could be the one that exposes him to the outside culinary world.
Food Wars is by far the best cooking anime I’ve seen. Every episode is intense, and some scenes still give us goosebumps after multiple viewings.
It is one-of-a-kind in every way and elevates cooking to a new level. If you’re a foodie, you’re probably salivating over the dishes depicted in the anime.
The dish appears to have been served perfectly on the table. It’s now your turn to taste and savour the delectableness hidden in each of them.
