Romance is a pastry that can be twisted into various stories. After all, love is a lovely thing! And for readers of light novels who enjoy seeing aesthetic words come to life, here are the best Romance Light Novels that you should read.
ROMANTIC LIGHT NOVELS YOU MIGHT NEVER HAVE HEARD OFF
16. The Girls Who Traumatized Me Keep Glancing At Me, But Alas, It’s Too Late
|Title||The Girls Who Traumatized Me Keep Glancing At Me, But Alas, Its Too Late|
In Japanese, it’s called Ore ni Trauma wo Ataeta Joshi-tachi ga Chirachira Mite Kuru kedo, Zannen desu ga Teokure desu, and it’s about a young man who had a bad childhood. His mother abandoned him, his sister began to despise him, and she was rejected by a childhood friend.
However, he suspects that the girls who traumatised him are actually looking at him. Isn’t it possible that it’s all in his head? This romantic comedy story, on the other hand, is about a depressed boy and the women who caused him pain.
What exactly is love? Is it edible? A thought for someone who has never known it in their entire life.
This light novel has the potential to be one of the best Anime Titles with Long Titles, but it has yet to be animated. It’s an intriguing story, albeit a bit generic harem, but it’s promising. It’s similar to Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro if she went too far and caused Naoto a traumatic experience.
15. Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle
|Title||Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle|
This is a fun light novel about a popular young man named Saku Chitose. His popularity is strong enough to keep haters at bay. Chitoses life is transformed when his teacher asks him to assist a NEET student in adjusting to life in the real world.
It is a psychological school life that is entertaining to read while also containing a heavy serious story. It is also a harem, so keep an eye out for it.
One thing to mention is that it received the Shogakukan Light Novel Award in 2018. Check out this masterpiece. It is highly recommended reading; you may dislike the main character at first, but you will grow to like him.
14. Your Story
Our next list item is a more serious story. Kimi no Hanashi is a tragic psychological story that may be too much for you, but I believe you are capable of handling it! The plot revolves around a man who is opposed to the common practise of false memory implantation. He was, however, given a memory, a fictitious one of a childhood friend who no longer exists.
It’s a little messed up. Imagine waking up and discovering that all of your memories with someone were fabricated by you.
But, while a childhood friend is nice, it’s messed up when they’re nothing more than transplanted memories. It is, however, unique among the cliché romances that we have here. If you can handle a psychological love story, then check out Kimi no Hanashi.
13. A Game To Make Him Fall
|Title||A Game To Make Him Fall|
If you like Josei, you’ll enjoy this one. Kare wo Kanrakusareru Game tells the story of a woman born in a house where women are viewed as tools or simply wombs. That is the entire point of their existence.
She considers the reality of photos of men being shown as potential romantic partners. She was there to create strong ties between different companies and to create the next generation, she sulked. Her self-awareness prevented her from falling in love.
Perhaps her thoughts are incomplete, and that coincidental event has something to offer.
In search of love, this light novel delves into the harsh reality of arranged marriage as well as the side of the coin that women oppose. Why not give it a read? And find out if this light novel has the potential to make you fall in love.
12. Highschool DxD
It’s a little worn, but not too worn. A light novel about Issei Hyoundo, who gets his wish when an attractive girl asks him out on a date. She did, however, attempt to kill him after admitting that she was a fallen angel. On the verge of death, a woman with red hair appears to save him.
Issei, who was once a human, is now a devil serving Rias Gremory, the upperclassman. He was the only person who saved his life.
You can’t call yourself a man of culture unless you’ve read Highschool DxD. It’s a supernatural harem set in a school where the main character becomes the devil and gains a harem. Yes! Something that most boys in 2008 wished for!
It’s time to read or even watch an important piece of otaku literature.
11. Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside
|Title||Banished From The Heros Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside|
Another long-titled light novel has been added to the list. I Was Kicked Out of the Hero’s Party Because I Wasn’t a True Companion, So I Decided to Live a Slow Life on the Frontier was one of its alternate titles.
It delves into the lives of Red and his live-in partner Rin. He revealed that he was the hero’s brother, Ruti Ragnason. He was kicked out of the party for being wicked, and despite his slow pace of life, he has yet to forget the past that haunts him.
It’s an intriguing light novel that explores the theme of exclusion from hero party stories. Check out this slow-paced romance. And, to be honest, it’s always entertaining to watch characters who are already in a committed relationship with each other.
10. A Sister Is All You Need
|Title||A Sister Is All You Need|
If you enjoy a romance that delves into the lives of light novel writers, this is the book for you! A light novelist who is obsessed with his younger sister and prefers to write light novels in which the main character has a romantic relationship with his sister.
Itsuki Hasima is that type of author. His life is still full of joy thanks to his wonderful friends. We have Nayuta, the brilliant writer who is quite perverted and has a crush on Itsuki. Haruto, a successful writer, Miyako, a college friend, and his stepbrother Chihiro.
It’s a light novel full of enjoyable games and slice-of-life adventures. In terms of romance, the development of Nayuta and Itsuki’s relationship is something to look forward to!
9. Love Chunibyo And Other Delusions
|Title||Love Chunibyo And Other Delusions|
A hilarious romantic comedy anime that delves into the enigmatic 8th Grade Syndrome. It is also known as Chuunibyo, or a disease that will make you regret your life decisions once you are cured.
Yuuta Togashi, the main character who wants to forget his Chuunibyo days, was one of the few examples. But, once his fateful encounter with Rika Takanashi began, he couldn’t seem to get away from it.
It’s time to read an anime about identity, high school life, and all the strange things you’ve done that will eventually come back to haunt you. It’s a sweet romance between a boy who wants to escape his 8th Grade Syndrome days and a girl who has chuunibyou.
8. The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a nation Out of Debt. (Hey, How About Treason)
|Title||The Genius Princes Guide to Raising a nation Out of Debt. (Hey, How About Treason)|
Checkmate, a country on the verge of collapse! But one prince has the power to save it all! Using his wits and martial arts skills, the young prince Wayne could save their country. But wait, if you think he’s doing it for your benefit, think again!
The prince wishes to improve the appearance of a country in order to increase the value of their kingdom so that he can sell it and retire! As a result, the last hope is nothing more than a self-serving traitor. What is the fate of their country?
This amusing rom-com combines adventure and fantasy. It’s one of my favourite light novels, not only because I have the same name as the MC, but also because its sense of humour is similar to Konosuba’s.
If you want to read a story about a genius prince on a quest to restore their crumbling kingdom to its full potential, try Genius Princes National Revitalization from State Deficit Right, Let Us Sell the Country.
Our next course is one of my favourite movies from high school. It was about a gamer named Keita Amano who meets a popular girl in class who shares his interests. Karen Tendou is their school’s best girl.
Karen invited him to join the gaming club because they shared a common interest. As a result, he observed a different perspective of gamers from his own. It’s a fun light novel with a lot of characters to root for.
But don’t forget about Keita and Karen’s strange chemistry. The light novel also delves into various types of gamers, transforming the narrowed and stereotypical definition of a gamer into a broad and multifaceted concept of being a gamer.
It also contains some noteworthy themes, such as misconception and how we must avoid it!
6. I’m in Love With The Villainess
|Title||Im in Love With The Villainess|
What about Love for Girls? This is the best one, in my opinion. Watashi no Hoshi wa Akuyaku Reijou, also known as Im in Love With The Villainess, is an isekai anime about Rei Oohashi, who wakes up in a new body.
Now she takes on the persona of a heroine from her favourite romance game. Instead of following the natural flow of the plot, she chose to pursue the heart of the main villain of the story rather than men.
Claire, the heroine’s tormentor. How the tables have flipped, as the heroine teases Claire in order to seduce her. Because of the popularity of the female isekai main characters, it is a cute comedy light novel that deserves an anime adaptation.
5. Full Metal Panic
|Title||Full Metal Panic|
Full Metal Panic is a classic romantic light novel worth reading. A hilarious action-drama about a complete moron named Sousuke Sagara. The dude is nothing but chaos around him, but he is an undercover military officer on a mission to protect Kaname Chidori, who is in danger from the KGB.
It’s one-of-a-kind and will drain your laughter; after all, Sagara isn’t your average student. He doesn’t even try to hide his military background; he answers affirmatively and brings strange weapons like grenades into their school. I thought America was the only country with the right to keep and bear arms!
This is a long-running love polygon romance that has surpassed Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi in popularity.
4. Violant Of The Silver
|Title||Violant Of The Silver|
Fudanshi! What are you doing? We couldn’t possibly leave out a good boy’s love on this list! Don’t worry, Violant of the Silver awaits you!
This Yaoi light novel, like Im in Love With The Villainess, is centred on Violant Lesserhain. The main character awakens to find himself in a different body. He is now the villain of the comic Vio, rather than the hero. As a result, he must change the story in order to avoid the fateful demise.
It’s an action comedy with a complicated family dynamic!
3. Are You Okay With a Slightly Older Girlfriend?
|Title||Are You Okay With a Slightly Older Girlfriend?|
Hohoho, we also have an age-gap romance! It’s a sweet love story about a high school boy named Momota who saves a girl from harassment on the train. He might get a bonus point for being a hero because the girl shares his interests. Video games, mixtapes, and the same Snake Year.
But there is one thing……
Orihara, the girl she likes, is far too old, with her first video game as a cartridge and mixtapes on Minidisc, prepare for the reveal, 12 years age difference! She has also never been on a date before, so how will Momota and his older girlfriend fare?
This is a sweet and interesting light novel to read, in my opinion. The ecchi and sweet cute moments that make you think, maybe I should get an older girlfriend, will never bore you.
Toradora is a Tsundere love story worth seeing! Ryuuhi Takasu is the main character, and despite his intimidating gangsta appearance, he is a gentle boy who enjoys housework. People, however, judge him as a delinquent because of his appearance.
Taiga Aisaka, on the other hand, is known as the Palmtop Tiger, and he is not to be trifled with. She is a small bgirl with a tiger’s personality who wields a katana. The two meet by accident, but as they grow closer, they learn about each other’s sides that no one else has seen before.
It is a popular light novel with an anime adaptation that deals with amazing themes ranging from crushes to young marriage. Honestly, despite the show’s cutesy theme and comedic bits, it is quite serious when it comes to exploring the aspect of relationships with lovers and friends.
1. Spice Wolf
And now for our number one spot: Ookami to Koushinryou, also known as Spice Wolf, is one of the best romance light novels out there. A simple anime that is regarded as one of the best!
A young merchant named Kraft Lawrence came across a young, naked girl sleeping in his wagon. This was the day he met Holo, a young woman who claims to be a wolf deity revered by the locals.
She frequently visits the people in order to bring them good harvests, but she grows tired of the locals’ ungratefulness and never-ending wishes. As a result, she asks the main character to assist her escape while also assisting his merchant life.
It is an enjoyable light novel to read, and it is well-liked by many light novel readers; therefore, if you haven’t read it yet, now is the time!
That’s all I have to say; I hope you find the best romance light novel to read! There’s a lot more to offer, and there are some good light novels in the pear ocean, but here’s a selection of the best that we handpicked for you.
