The world of anime is truly fascinating, with many different genres and stories to tell. For a long time, the ecchi genre has been a fan favourite. So much so that special fanservice episodes can be found in other types of anime. 20. The Familiar of Zero
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière is a self-absorbed mage in a world of wands, cloaks, and royalty. Despite attending Tristain Academy, a prestigious school for magicians, Louise has a major issue: she is unable to cast magic properly, earning her the nickname “Louise the Zero” from her classmates.

Wakana Gojou, a high school student, spends his days honing the art of making Hina dolls in the hopes of one day surpassing his grandfather’s level of expertise. While his peers are consumed by pop culture, Gojou finds fulfilment in making clothes for his dolls. Nonetheless, he goes to great lengths to conceal his unusual hobby, believing that if it is revealed, he will be ridiculed.
Marin Kitagawa enters the picture, an exceptionally beautiful girl whose confidence and poise contrast sharply with Gojou’s meekness. It defies logic for Gojou to associate with Kitagawa, who is always surrounded by her peers. The unthinkable happens, however, when Kitagawa discovers Gojou’s sewing prowess and openly admits to him about her own hobby: cosplay. Thirty years ago, a supermassive “spatial quake”—a phenomenon involving unknown space vibrations—devastated the Eurasian continent, killing over 150 million people. These quakes have struck the world on an irregular basis since then, albeit on a smaller scale.
Shidou Itsuka appears to be a typical high school student living with his younger sister, Kotori. When a spatial quake threatens the safety of Tengu City, he rushes to save her, only to be caught in the ensuing eruption. He discovers a mysterious girl at its source who is revealed to be a “Spirit,” an otherworldly entity whose appearance causes a spatial quake. Soon after, he is drawn into a conflict between the girl and the Anti-Spirit Team, a ruthless strike force dedicated to the annihilation of Spirits.
However, there is a third party that believes in spirit salvation: “Ratatoskr,” which is led by Shidou’s younger sister! Following the battle, Kotori forcibly recruits Shidou, offering him a different way to deal with the Spirits’ threat—causing them to fall in love with him.
