Ash’s historic victory in the Pokémon World Coronation Series marked the end of a 25-year journey that began on April 1, 1997, with the premiere of the first season of the long-running anime franchise.
At the Manalo Conference, which served as the setting for Pokémon Sun and Moon, Ash previously became the Alola region’s first official Pokémon League Champion in 2019. The team had been without a championship for 22 years.
Pokémon has spawned numerous anime seasons, spinoffs, web series, manga, animated feature films, merchandise, and other forms of media based on the video game franchise of the same name.
Many people congratulated Ash on his long-awaited accomplishment on social media.
Current Ash Ketchum English voice actress Sarah Natochenny was also happy to hear of Ash’s win and expressed excitement for voicing him in the episode in the future.
Puerto Rican reggaetón rapper and singer Bad Bunny also offered praise for Ash in a Spanish tweet.
