Luffy has come a long way since his days in East Blue. He defeated everyone from ordinary pirates to corrupted marines, declared war on the World Government in order to save Nico Robin, and even fought in the war to save his brother.
He defeated numerous warlords along the way, including Crocodile, Gecko Moria, and Doflamingo, and even won the heart of the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock. Even after being unofficially named the Fifth Emperor, he faces a formidable challenge: defeating Kaido and freeing Wano Kuni.
So, how is Luffy going to defeat Kaido? Can he even take him on one-on-one? In this article, we’ll go over all the different ways Luffy can defeat Kaido.
Luffy vs Kaido: Is Victory Possible?
Before we can discuss how Luffy can defeat Kaido, we must first determine Luffy’s strength and compare it to Kaido’s.
During the Wano arc, we saw Kaido one-shot Luffy, and even after training in prison, Luffy couldn’t have gotten power-ups that could compete with Kaido.
So, as of now, Luffy cannot defeat Kaido one on one, but there are a few options, which are listed below.
1. Luffy & Zoro Tag Teaming & Finishing Off!

Zoro inherited Oden’s sword for a reason: Enma. Even after the Time Skip, we have yet to see Zoro’s Ultimate move. So he must be hiding an incredible and lethal move.
Because Luffy cannot defeat Kaido head-on, he will push him as far as he can and keep him as occupied as he can with the help of Sanji and Yamato. They had to behead Kaido with a flashing double move, the power of which should exceed Oden’s strike.
Although it appears ridiculous in the face of Kaido’s might, it is unquestionably one of the ways Luffy can defeat Kaido.
2. Luffy Getting Ridiculous Shonen Power-Up!

In the Shounen genre, we’ve seen all of these things before. The main character suddenly gains incredible power, allowing him to defeat an opponent far stronger than himself.
Luffy can face Kaido head-on if he awakens his devil fruit and learns how to use his Haki appropriately. Even so, it would be insufficient. Even to test Kaido, he needs at least a couple of power-ups.
So, unless Luffy gets unexpected power-ups, which Oda doesn’t want with a quarter of the story remaining, it appears impossible.
3. Exhausting Kaido Through Sacrifices

The anime hasn’t gotten to this point yet, but Kaido stomps everyone during the fight. It includes characters such as Akaza samurai, Sanji, Zoro, and even Luffy (to an extent). No one can match him, but if everyone comes up with their best moves and injures Kaido as much as possible, it will give Luffy a huge advantage.
Then Luffy might even confront Kaido. This is the most effective and sensible of the three options. This way, everyone can contribute to the fight, boosting their confidence in defeating Kaido.
