The 18th issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine, released on Friday, revealed that Rin Suzukawa’s Asobi Asobase (Play and Let Play) manga would be completed in three chapters. If the manga does not go on hiatus, the final chapter will be published in issue 21, which will be released on October 28, 2022.
The comedy manga, written and illustrated by Rin Suzukawa, debuted in 2015 on Hakusensha’s Young Animal Densi website. As of January 2022, Hakusensha had published 13 volumes.
Lerche adapted the manga into a 12-episode comedic anime television series, which aired in Japan from July to September 2018. Seiji Kishi directed the 12 episodes, which were written by Yuko Kakihara and featured music by Masato Koda. Hina Kino, Rika Nagase, and Konomi Kohara composed the anime’s opening and closing themes.
Synopsis:
The anime follows three 2nd year classmates, Hanako Honda, Olivia, and Kasumi Nomura. Kasumi, a bright and serious student, hates games even though she is good at them and terrible at English. Olivia, a pretty girl from America raised in Japan, poses to be bad at Japanese, and Hanako, a girl who wears her hair in pigtails, is clever but yet struggles to be a normal person. These three are the only members of an unofficial Pastimers Club who often think of ways to pass the time.
While the manga will be finished sometime this year, you can binge watch the anime on Netflix and YouTube for your own Pass time.
