Sorcerous Stabber Orphen -Chaos in Urbanrama-, the anime adaptation for the twenty-first century, will continue in January 2023. The teaser trailer and visual for the fantasy action show have been released.
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Chaos in Urbanrama is the third instalment in the Sorcerous Stabber Orphen series, following Sorcerous Stabber Orphen and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Battle of Kimluck in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Takayuki Hamana returns as director and Studio DEEN as animation production studio, respectively, with new series composer Kenji Konuta (Ace of Diamond).
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen -Chaos in Urbanrama- is based on Yoshinobu Akita’s light novel series, which began in 1994 and was illustrated by Yuuya Kusaka. It was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of light novels.
The book series, which included many short story collections, was published by Fujimi Shobo and ended in 2003. In 2011, TO Entertainment debuted a new Sorcerous Stabber Orphen series.
The original series, titled Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey, is described by J Novel Club as follows:
Orphen is a Sorcerer who dropped out of the prestigious Tower of Fangs. His journey to save Azalie, a girl he considers a sister, has taken him to the bustling city of Totokanta. They are reunited here for the first time in five years. But what is the truth behind her monstrous transformation, and what secrets lurk behind the Sword of Baldanders…?
Before the current anime, two J.C.STAFF-produced anime series were released in the late 90s. Sorcerous Stabber Orphen has also inspired multiple mangas.
