One of our favourite aspects of One Piece is Luffy’s Power-Ups. He’s been levelling up like crazy from arc to arc and battle to battle since Gear 2nd.
So, when did Luffy use his Gear 4, and when can we expect to see his Gear 5, 6, and whatever else he creates? We’ll go over all of the specifics in this article.
How Did Luffy Create Gear 4?

Prior to the Marineford Arc, Luffy could only use up to Gear 3, which grants him speed and strength. Even Luffy’s dense brain would realise that using both speed and strength will give him an enormous advantage in battle.
Luffy was given the task of becoming stronger on his own by fighting the animals on the island after spending two years on the island with Silvers Rayleigh. Even after learning Haki, his strength and speed were insufficient.
Then Luffy infused Haki and created a new form that strengthens his rubber body and even allows him to fly.
When Does Luffy Use Gear 4?

Luffy first used Gear 4, also known as “Boundman,” in the Dressarossa Arc in Episode 726 of the anime and Chapter 784 of the manga in the Dressarossa Arc. It was against Doflamingo when he attempted to assassinate Trafalgar Law. Doflamingo chuckles at how amusing the form appears, but he eventually gets his ass kicked.
Luffy used it a lot in Whole Cake Island with a couple of new forms since then, which helped him get through two impossible battles. The Gear 4 forms are as follows:
Boundman:

Boundman is Gear 4’s primary form, which allows him to coat his legs and arms in Busoshoku Haki. It is a hybrid of Gears 2nd and 3rd because it is extremely agile, durable, and strong.
Tank Man:

Luffy had to use Tank Man during the battle with Charlotte Cracker due to the opponent’s Biscuit attacks’ incredible offence. He never used this form again until the current arc because it allows him to burn a large amount of energy (Wano).
Snake Man:

Luffy couldn’t even scratch Katakuri in his normal Gear 4 form during the battle. However, when he transforms into Snake Man, he gains incredible speed and can change the direction of his attacks in mid-air. In this manner, he countered Katakuri’s flawless Observation Haki.
However, this form does not provide him with as much defence as Boundman or Tankman. In exchange for defeating Katakuri, he took a lot of damage during the battle.
When Does Luffy Use Gear 5?

As with Rob Lucci, Doflamingo, and Katakuri, he faces a far more formidable opponent (s) this time: The Kaido, The World’s Strongest Creature. Even if you have Gear 4, it is nearly impossible to defeat Kaido.
So, regardless, Luffy had to awaken his devil fruit and create a new Gear. Luffy is currently unable to use the Color of Conquerors (CoC) in conjunction with Gear 4, putting him at a significant disadvantage.
What is Luffy’s Gear 5?

Even though Oda did not reveal any details, we can make an educated guess. He must awaken his Devil Fruit sooner or later because he cannot use its full abilities while using Gear 4.
Armament Haki and Gomu Gomu no Fruit were combined to create Gear 4. As a result, Gear 5 could be a hybrid of his Awakened Devil Fruit and Color of Conquerors. He’ll have a better chance of defeating Kaido or Big Mom once he obtains it.
Because Observation Haki provides an advantage in battle, he should level it up during the fight. So that’s our forecast for Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation.
